Why chanting Aum and making it a regular practice is so powerful 🕉️

Om or Aum is a beej mantra, a sacred sound, symbol, and Upanishad. Om serves as a sonic representation of the divine and is referred to as “Pranava” or the cosmic sound. It is said to encapsulate all of past, present, and future.

When we chant OM (the practice of japa), we connect to the universal frequencies and vibrations, promoting harmony and balance.

The Taittiriya Upanishad states “Brahman is om, this whole world is om.” And the Svetasvatara Upanishad states that through the practice (abhyasa) of meditating on om, one can see God.

Om is said to represent Ishvara > God, Universe, divine, and source energy. Om encapsulates the Absolute Truth. When we chant Om, we are able to meet Ishvara face-to-face and also meet our inner divinity. To realize our inner divinity.

When we chant Om with devotion, one practice of Ishvara Pranidhana, we meditate on Ishvara, on God, and this causes a cleansing and purifying of the mind (a sattvicizing).

By chanting Om, we bring about calmness and an openness of the mind. The 🕉️ sound is a focal point, helping practitioners achieve deeper states of inner awareness, concentration, and peace. It helps us to reach higher meditative states and see the world around us with more clarity and openness.

Vyasa states that by constantly repeating om and contemplating its meaning, mainly Ishvara, the mind of the yogi becomes one-pointed - the goal of all yoga practice, as mentioned in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (1.28).

This is such a powerful, purifying, grounding, and centering practice.

When I practice, I experience fully for myself how much more calm, centered, and in tune I feel. I can more fully tap into my heart space and access more love.

Typically I try to practice for at least 15 minutes a day.

Try it out and let me know how it goes and please share with a practitioner who would love this!
