Womxn of Color Summit operated from 2020-2023 as a brave space for womxn and non-binary people of color to show up authentically in community and redefine what wellness and healing can look like when it is accessible to all.

PROGRAMS OFFERED

ANNUAL SUMMIT

In summer 2020, we birthed our first summit, The Art of Creative Living, that spanned over six days and became known as a healing community for Black, Indigenous, and women of color in the healing and creative spaces to decolonize wellness and reclaim their ancestral practices.

In February 2021, we held the second annual summit, The Art of Authentic Living, where we had 13 speakers and 22 live interactive workshops featuring brilliant BI&WoC over six days. The topics spanned from accessing our innate creativity, decolonizing nonviolent communication, breaking down diet culture, practices to connect with our ancestors, reclaiming our connection to wellness, building beliefs to thrive, and more. Close to 400 people attended and anyone that needed to attend for free was able to. We are happy to report that we didn’t need to turn a single person away due to lack of funds.

SEASONAL SOUL BUDDY PROGRAM

In 2022, the Soul Buddy Program created a 5-week journey for womxn and non-binary people of color to make a new connection, a friend, a co-creator, a more intimate connection especially during this time when many felt isolated.

BI-ANNUAL GROUP PROGRAM

We offered three cohorts of Deeping Your Spiritual Practices in Community, a twelve-week group program that came as a result of our community members wanting a deeper way to connect with one another and having a committed time and space to grow. It served as a brave space for transformational self-care and explored tools like meditation, ancestral work, breathwork, lunar magick, tarot, and asana.

MONTHLY NEW MOON GATHERINGS

Every month we held a New Moon Gathering facilitated by a BI&WoC healer as an intentional space for community to reflect, to pray, and to plant seeds. New Moons are symbols of awakenings, beginnings, and invitations. Programming included Akashic Record meditations & breathwork, sound baths, spells and ritual work, yoga asana, ancestral work, and so much more. These were always donation-based care circles where we worked together to manifest our desires into life with ritual.

I felt welcome & relaxed. I could be my whole self in this space.

“It's not something I feel in most wellness spaces. I am so happy I attended! What a beautiful community of strong womxn sharing their stories of resiliency and healing together. I left the summit feeling empowered, connected, inspired, validated, and loved. Thank you to everyone who made this happen - organizing & speaking & leading workshops. Eternally grateful for this experience and looking forward to the next one!” — S.M.

I was reminded that healing is not just for you but for your community, that it is a journey that will probably take a lifetime but that it is to be done at my own time.

“I also was reminded of how important it is to be gentle and compassionate with myself and to work on the shame that I place on not living up to certain expectations.” — S.H.

Womxn of Color Summit Podcast

The Womxn of Color Summit podcast came from a desire to learn from WOC about how they are stepping into their power and embodying their life purpose while dismantling oppressive systems.

Over the span of 24 episodes, co-hosts Harpinder Mann and Irene Lo discuss authentic living, self-love, and soul-care with a variety of BI&WOC speakers.

LISTENER REVIEW:

“If you are looking for content that talks about healing and inner work through an intersectional, social justice, and empowering lens, think of this podcast as an offering to you and your journey. While so many wellness, spiritual, and self-help arenas are dominated by whiteness and capitalism, Irene and Harpinder do a wonderful job in navigating real conversations and creating a space for BIWOC folks to learn from one another and thrive.”

Thank you for the Soul Buddy program! Often events like these can feel really impersonal especially now that we're all virtual.

“I had a nearly 2 hr zoom chat with my Soul Buddy and it was a wonderful connection. We're going to go through all the recordings together and meet for weekly sharing & reflection. Fantastic way to make the event sooooo much more personal. I wish all summit/conference type events did something like this.” — D.W.

The summit really authentically created a safe, supportive space for attendees to feel like they could really show up as themselves.

“I could feel the energy in the virtual rooms and it was so beautiful and refreshing to experience. This summit not only made you think when you were in the sessions, but continue to have deep reflections after.” — C.T.
